Five R.I. firms make Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Five Rhode Island firms made the Inc. 5000 list of America’s Fastest-Growing Companies with ChartWise Medical Systems Inc. leading the group.

Coming in at No. 627, Chartwise Medical Systems, in the Wakefield section of South Kingstown, designs software that improves precision in clinical documentation to help hospitals mitigate risk and maximize reimbursement. It experienced three-year growth of 617 percent, and had $4 million in revenue last year.

This was Chartwise’s first appearance on the annual list, which celebrates “the superheroes of the U.S. economy.” It was released Wednesday.

The other Rhode Island companies that made the magazine’s list are:

  • O’Neill Consulting Group, at No. 1,889, also in Wakefield, had three-year growth of 198 percent, and $6.8 million in revenue last year. O’Neill, an executive search firm, improved from its rank of No. 2,394 last year.
  • A Child’s University, at No. 2,654, had three-year growth of 133 percent and revenue of $2.5 million last year. A Child’s University is a nationally accredited early childhood school with two Rhode Island locations – in Cranston and Smithfield.
  • The Copley Consulting Group, at No. 3,165, had three-year growth of 106 percent and revenue of $6.9 million last year. The information technology company in East Greenwich improved from No. 3242 last year. “The Copley Consulting Group’s inclusion in this year’s Inc. Copley’s year-over-year revenue growth validates the focus of our entire team and our commitment to the highest level of customer satisfaction. We look forward to this continued growth trajectory,” Bob Lane, CEO of The Copley Consulting Group, said in a statement.
  • Atrion Inc., in Warwick, ranked No. 4,448. The IT company ranked No. 4,187 last year. Atrion had three-year growth of 58 percent and revenue of $120 million last year. “To be once again recognized by Inc. as a leading, rapidly growing company is a true testament to the fierce commitment we exhibit here at Atrion to the ultimate client experience, smart growth strategies and innovation and continuous improvement,” Atrion CEO Tim Hebert said in a statement. “We firmly believe that companies that are not transforming and evolving are in a state of decay and, as such, our passion always remains on driving toward the next chapter.” In June, Exeter-based Carousel Industries of North America Inc. announced plans to acquire Atrion in the third quarter.

Coming in No. 1 on the Inc. 5000 list was Loot Crate in Los Angeles, a business that sends a monthly themed mystery box of collectibles to more than 600,000 subscribers. It’s had 66,789 percent growth over three years, and had 2015 revenue of $116.2 million.

No. 2 was Paint Nite, in Somerville, Mass., which hosts group painting parties in local nightclubs, with three-year growth of 36,555 percent and 2015 revenue of $55 million.

Optamark, an online printing company in North Attleboro, ranked highest among local companies at No. 198 with three-year growth of 1,906 percent and $4.5 million in revenue. It improved from No. 223 last year.

Case Snow Management, a snow and ice removal company in North Attleboro, came in at No. 575, moving up from No. 3,592 last year. It had three-year growth of 678 percent and 2015 revenue of $28.8 million.

Blount Fine Foods Corp. in Fall River was No. 3,567 for three-year growth of 88 percent. It was No. 3,696 last year.
